FLORA, Apayao – “Learning knows no boundaries” seems to be the mantra of retired teacher Pedrito Daguiawe, 69, a male resident of Poblacion, Flora, Apayao. Despite his age, he has expressed interest in acquiring skills and knowledge in electrical installation and maintenance, which he hopes to put to productive use and be of help to others.
Daguiawe is one of 20 trainees in the 28-day Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II training that started today, 11 July 2024, at the Apayao Training Center (ATC) in San Isidro, Luna.
This training is funded by Apayao’s Lone District Representative Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang under the Skills Training for Employment Program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and is being implemented by the ATC, the skills training arm of the provincial government.
He served for 39 years as a public school teacher in his hometown prior to his retirement in 2016. Despite his advancing age however, his eagerness to learn new skills to make himself productive and be of service to others continues, thus his enrollment in ATC’s EIM NC II training.
“The opportunity to learn and unlearn, same thing with providing service, is not limited by age”, he says. “Regardless of employment, I am personally committed to offering my services to those in need, even free of charge,” Daguiawe added.
He thanked both Governor Bulut and Bulut-Begtang “for creating opportunities like this which we consider as gifts of love from our committed and dedicated leaders,” Daguiawe added.
He also encouraged other interested individuals to avail themselves of training offered by ATC. “This is your chance to improve your skills, grab a job, and become a productive citizen.” By Apayao PIO
