BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that the 6th edition of the Mangan Taku Food Fair is scheduled on April 24-28, 2025 in line with the annual celebration of Food Month every April.
DOT-CAR regional director Jovita Ganongan said that the annual food fair will again showcase various Cordillera cuisines where the public will have a chance to partake of the special delicacies right at the heart of the city which is part of the ongoing efforts to popularize and let visitors and city residents taste different indigenous Cordillera foods.
For this year, the DOT-CAR official reported that the tourism department will post Mangan Taku stickers in hotels and restaurants serving Cordillera cuisines in their menu so that visitors can immediately know that local food is available in such establishments.
The annual Mangan Taku Food Fair has been endorsed by no less than the Regional Development Council in the Cordillera and the various local governments to ensure the widest participation of concerned stakeholders in line with the aggressive promotion of Cordillera cuisines to foreign and domestic tourists.
She added that tourists and even Cordillerans will no longer have to go to the different provinces to taste the native delicacies as these same will be readily available right in a single venue, thus, people can just go around and taste the various specialties of the Cordillerans.
The Mangan Taku Food Fair was also institutionalized by City Ordinance No. 81 in 2019 and in line with Proclamation No. 469 issued in 2018 declaring the month of April as Filipino Food Month with the aim of promoting the appreciation, preservation, and promotion of Philippine culinary traditions and treasures, ensuring the transfer of knowledge to future generations and support various industries, farmers, and agricultural communities.
Ganongan believes that the annual conduct of the Mangan Taku has generated the interest of many foreign and local tourists who are eagerly awaiting for the schedule for them to spend their well-deserved break in the city and have the chance to partake of the provincial native delicacies and native wines without going to the different provinces, thus, the importance of the active participation of hotels and restaurants in the food fair.
