HUNGDUAN, Ifugao – A total of 703 residents of this municipality were served during a medical and dental outreach of the provincial government through its “Handog Kalusugan” program which was geared to provide local residents with enhanced health services in order to improve their health condition.
Of the said number, 551 medical patients were served while 152 for the dental activity which paved the way for the successful implementation of health interventions to ensure the establishment of a healthy community.
The common ailments of patients include upper respiratory tract infections, muscular strain disorders due to fatigue and old age and cardio-vascular diseases like hypertension, which are common diseases among Cordillerans.
“Handog” Kalusugan is a health program initiated by Governor Denis Habawel in partnership with SN Aboitiz and Senator Alan Cayetano. This program has doctors, nurses and volunteers who conduct the medical consultation in the various municipalities of the province.
Meanwhile, a consultation on mental illnesses or psychiatric disorder will be conducted on March 26 at the Senior Citizens Building in Lagawe town sponsored by the provincial government through the provincial health office.
Also invited are those with drugs and alcohol withdrawal symptoms for them to be provided with health advises on how to go about the problems they are currently encountering due to such withdrawal.
Psychiatrists from the National Center for Mental Health in Manila will provide the services and conduct lectures and home visits to mental clients including free medicines to mental cases to allow them to freely recover from their ailments.
