LUNA, Apayao – In a joint effort to aid those affected by Typhoon Marce, the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-SWAD) Apayao Office together with the office of Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, distributed a total of PhP2,157,000 in cash assistance through the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) program.
This financial aid benefited 719 families whose homes sustained partial damages during the typhoon with each family receiving PhP3,000.
The distribution was held on November 25, 2024 at Municipal Gymnasium in Flora town.
The collaborative effort between DSWD-SWAD Apayao and the congresswoman’s office ensured efficient and timely delivery of the funds to the affected families to help them in their recovery efforts.
Municipal Mayor Rodolfo Juan, Sr., and the DSWD-SWAD Apayao team led by Gretchen Garcia, also oversaw the distribution and provided additional support to the recipients.
The beneficiaries expressed their sincere gratitude for the assistance, emphasizing that the funds would greatly contribute to faster rehabilitation of their damaged houses. The financial aid will assist families in repairing their partially damaged houses and addressing immediate needs.
The DSWD-SWAD Apayao and the congresswoman’s office said they remain committed to supporting the affected communities as they recover from the devastation of Typhoon Marce.
The agency is also working closely with local government units to coordinate relief efforts and ensure that all affected families receive the necessary assistance. By Krizza Joy Castillo
