LUNA, Apayao – Seventy-five newly-hired barangay social welfare workers (BSWW) from Flora, Santa Marcela, Pudtol, and Luna, have signed their contracts and received orientation on February 7 at the EKB Gymnasium in San Isidro Sur, and are set to begin work this February
These BSWW will assist in social welfare efforts and data collection in their respective barangays and will serve until June.
The provincial government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), facilitated the hiring of these BSWW under the banner program Apayao Socio-Economic Efforts Necessary for Growth. Each barangay will have one BSWW to reinforce social welfare programs at the grassroots level.
These workers will assist in the data collection and coordination between the provincial government and national government agencies. They will be compensated with a daily wage of PhP450, with their contracts set for renewal every three (3) months.
Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. through his Executive Assistant Donato Balag, commended the new hires for passing the screening process and emphasized the importance of integrity and having strong values in public service. The Governor likewise expanded employment opportunities for BSWW by increasing funding allocations to strengthen support services at the barangay level. By Michelle Acantilado
