LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao-Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) conducted the graduation ceremony for 75 farmers who underwent training through the Farmers Livestock School (FLS) in ruminant production.
Said graduation ceremony on December 18,2024 and held at the Apayao Grandstand, Payanan, Luna, Apayao is a result of long study and hands-on learning for farmers to be adequately equipped with know-hows to boost livestock production in the province.
The graduates from various municipalities were awarded certificates of training completion in FLS on goat/sheep, cattle and buffaloes after 7 months of rigid training.
The FLS in ruminant production is a community-based educational approach that aims to improve livestock farming, particularly for ruminants like cattle, sheep, goats, and buffaloes. It provides farmers with practical knowledge and skills to enhance their livestock productivity in a sustainable and profitable manner.
FLS typically focuses on various aspects of ruminant management, including animal nutrition, breeding, disease control, pasture management, and animal welfare.
Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr. Ralph Verzon congratulated the FLS graduates and encouraged them all to succeed in their chosen work.
“Your hard work, dedication, and passion for agriculture have brought you this far, and now you’re equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a real impact in the farming community. As you step forward into the next chapter of your journey, remember that your commitment to growth, sustainability, and innovation will shape the future of farming,” said Verzon.
Verzon also added that they ought to “Keep striving for excellence, and never stop learning,” as the possibilities of new opportunities for them are endless, reminding them that they have the power to make a difference in their communities and the province as a whole. By Michelle Acantilado
