LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Nerve-wracking weekend awaits the participants of the 7th Pangasinan Chess Championship set at the Provincial Training and Development Center, November 11-12.
The third phase of the Pangasinan Chess Festival (PCF), the 7th Pangasinan Chess Championship has three categories: junior, open and kiddies.
The PCF, recognized as the ‘Biggest Chess Festival in Northern Luzon’, is a sports development program of the provincial government sustained by Governor Amado I. Espino, III. It was launched under the previous administration of former Pangasinan Governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr.
Sponsored by the provincial government, the National Chess Federation of the Philippines – sanctioned PCF is organized by the Provincial Sports Development and Management Council in partnership with the Pangasinan Chess League (PCL).
It can be recalled that PCF started last September 9 with its training component chess clinics.
The four-day chess clinics staged on two consecutive weekends of September (9-10 and 16-17) was the preliminary of PCF.
PCF chess tournaments include: 7th Pangasinan Age Group Chess Championship (October 7-8); 7th Pangasinan Chess Championship (November 11-12); and 9th Gov. Amado Espino Open Chess Championship (December 9-10).
