LUNA, Apayao – Eighty-three members of the Bagutong Farmers Association have successfully completed Stage III of Project Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI), a government program that supports sustainable water access and food security.
In this phase, the group constructed a 750-square meter Small Farm Reservoir now stocked with 3,500 fingerlings from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)–Apayao to jumpstart aquaculture activities and supplement farmers’ livelihoods.
Vegetable production was also integrated into the site with technical support and planting materials from the provincial government through the Provincial Office of Agricultural Services.
A turnover ceremony was held to mark the completion of the stage, attended by Flora Municipal Agriculturist Natividad Ramos, Social Welfare Officer Joy Castillo of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) personnel Jhoanna Jimenez, Rejane Kingat, Melisa Begnaen, and Michelle Anne Bermillo.
