LUNA, Apayao – Some 86 participants from the various municipalities of Apayao have completed their three-day orientation program on the new Early Child Care Development (ECCD) Recognition Tools for Internal Evaluators conducted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The training, held on September 17-19, 2024 at Star Jewel Lodge in San Isidro, aimed to uphold the quality of ECCD programs and promote optimal development outcomes for children and to address the shortcomings in the evaluation process and ultimately improve the quality of ECCD services for children in the province of Apayao.
This training was attended by 27 ECCD evaluators from the municipalities of Conner and Calanasan, 32 from the municipalities of Flora, Luna, and Santa Marcela, and 27 from the municipalities of Kabugao and Pudtol.
The trainees were the child development workers, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay captains and other focal persons throughout the province of Apayao.
Among the topics discussed were seven (7) areas of ECCD Recognition Tools and Orientation on how to Accomplish the ECCD Score Sheet Form. Thelma M. Pugyao, social worker and the focal person of this program discussed the topics.
The orientation ensured that participants understood the complexity of evaluating programs customized to Apayao’s particular needs by acquainting them with ECCD standards, assessment methodology, and local context. By Krizza Joy Castillo
