TUBA, Benguet – Almost 1,700 individuals availed of numerous medical, dental, and social services during the 8th Healthier Benguet caravan of the Provincial Government led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas held at Tuba, Benguet.
The two-leg caravan was conducted on separate dates, with the first leg taking place at Camp 3 elementary school on Friday, May 24, benefiting residents of Camp 1, Camp 3, Camp 4, Twin Peaks, Ansagan, and Tabaan Sur, while the second leg was conducted at the Youth Sports Complex in Poblacion, serving residents of Nangalisan, Poblacion, San Pascual, Tabaan Norte, Tadiangan, Taloy Norte, and Taloy Sur.
In partnership with the municipal LGU led by Mayor Clarita P. Sal-ongan, the caravan featured medical-dental services including minor surgery, circumcision and incision, consultation, ultrasound, eye check-ups with free eyeglasses provided by Baguio Everlasting Lion’s Club and Fred Hollow Foundation, and dental care. Also, veterinary services were provided, like spaying and neutering, anti-rabies injection, deworming, consultation, mange treatment, and cattle artificial insemination.
Other services provided were paralegal services, distribution of learning materials for children to 39 daycare centers, distribution of seeds and seedlings, distribution of patents by the Registry of Deeds (ROD), and real property tax collection.
Joining the said caravan were national line agencies, namely the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), PhilHealth, the Philippine National Police (PNP-Tuba), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Tuba).
Governor Diclas extends his gratitude to all offices, national government agencies, municipal and barangay officials, and volunteers for the successful conduct of the event.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sal-ongan thanked the governor for continuously conducting the caravan, bringing more government services closer to the people.
The province plans to extend similar initiatives to the remaining municipalities in Benguet this year. By JWA
