Pasil, Kalinga – Nine individuals were injured after the police patrol they were riding fell on a ravine at Puway, Magsilay here around 3:45 pm Friday.
Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, provincial director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the wounded occupants of the police patrol vehicle as Ignacio Dammay Latawan, 70, married; Filipa Linggayo Pasudag, 58, single, Emelda Baluga Manggad, 35, married; Merlyn Bacacao Pagutayao, 48, married; Aida Lagayon Saga-oc, 64, married; Cameron Maniag Bakidan, 39, married; Juanito Dayag Dao-ay, 49, single; Publing Agabas, 70; and SPO4 Ronaldo Gumabay, 53, PNP member, all residents of Guina-ang, Pasil, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victims were on board the police patrol vehicle en route to a still undisclosed direction when the driver SPO4 Edgar Alimondo, a member of the Pasil Municipal Police Station, suddenly lost control of the vehicle after it slipped on a portion of the road due to the continuous rains in the area and fell off the ravine.
Responding police operatives and concerned residents immediately rushed the victims to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital where they were subjected to medical treatment of the minor injuries they sustained.
Probers are still conducting the required investigation on the real cause of the vehicular accident that resulted to multiple injuries.
