Various basketball teams from the Baguio City and Benguet area are again expected to see action in the 9th YMCA Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament for corporate level which is scheduled to open on June 12, 2015 at the YMCA gymnasium as per confirmation from the associations’ physical education and sports committee assigned to take charge of the tournament.
The tournament shall be open to all interested teams from government and non-government offices, private ball clubs, Barangay teams and other interested team participants eighteen years of age and above who is not a current or ex-varsity player, who shall be screened by the tournament committee.
In accordance with the set guidelines for bracketing the teams, PE & Sports committee Chairman Jerome Gawidan, said that all teams shall also be screened and properly distributed in four brackets in accordance with the team player composition. He also added that a team composed of players forty years and above shall have a separate bracket.
The 9th inning of the YMCA Cup will be played in a single round robin system on the elimination round, where the top four teams shall advance to the semi-finals which will be played in a cross-over twice to beat format and the top two teams on a knock out match for the final round.
Meanwhile, an orientation meeting for all interested teams will be conducted on June 2, 2015. Last Day of submission of entries will be on June 5, 2015 and the opening of games is set on June 12,2015, game officials will come from the National Amateur Basketball Referees Organization (NABRO).
