LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The big void in the lack of presence of pertinent sports training programs in our locality may find partial relief as the A01 Skills Academy program is on its way to be integrated in the sports programs of La Trinidad, Benguet.
According to A01 La Trinidad coordinator Cristopher C. Bansan, a proposal had been sent to the Office of the Mayor of La Trinidad for the consideration of conducting the training modules of A01 Skills Academy in La Trinidad and is now under consideration by the Honorable Romeo K. Salda.
A01 is an entity known to conduct basketball training modules and curriculums to young people in the country. It has a program unique set-up that caters to more than just sports and that it will surely be loved by both the aspiring athlete and the parent.
One of its main goals are to let the enrollee develop progression of customized basketball drills that are age appropriate, skill driven and position specified, which should be loved by the athlete.
On the other hand, the parents would surely love the required character of those entering the program. Each student athlete is expected to be respectful, responsible, able to follow directions, punctual, organized, self-starter and prepared.
The founder, coach Mon Casuga, is a known advocate of the game among the youth in the Philippines. He is a cancer survivor who has beaten the disease, dedicated his new lease on life in propagating youth basketball for the glory of God.
According to their facebook page, Casuga operates in a non-profit environment; his efforts are being provided for by well meaning benefactors who believe in making sports a platform for character development for the next generation.
A01 already gave an idea on how they conduct their activities when they carried out a community basketball clinic at the La Trinidad, Municipal Gymnasium last December 11, 2016, integrating it midway of the First Mayor’s Cup.
According to Bansan, a modest crowd of just a shade under a hundred attended the clinic.
If plans go accordingly, young basketball enthusiasts of La Trinidad may find themselves a good program of not only enhancing their skills but also setting them up for better character development.
