BANGUED, Abra – Bb. Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra vowed to aggressively promote the country in the international stage as the Philippines’ representative to the Miss International competition next year.
Esguerra, a native of Abra, rallied Filipinos to support her to be able to bring home the crown and sustain the country’s presence in the international beauty contest to help in placing the country as one of the producers of beauty titlists.
She said that she will not only carry Abra’s identity but also the whole country in the competition to entice foreigners to consider visiting the different tourist spots in the country and contribute in boosting the tourism industry.
The beauty titlist claimed that she was able to popularize Abra and the Cordillera as among the premier tourist destinations in the country because of their wonderful destinations when she joined the Search for Bb. Pilipinas International recently.
Aside from making known the wonderful tourist spots in the province, Esguerra was also able to showcase the handy works of the local weaving industry through her attire during the competition that will surely contribute in marketing the products of the weaving industry.
According to her, she will continue to enhance her advocacy on the environment by teaching children the importance of nature so that they will understand the value of a good environment to them.
Earlier, the provincial government envisioned tourism as one of the province’s major economic drivers in the future considering the presence of numerous nature-based spots that have been and will still be discovered to contribute in generating jobs, economic activities and sources of livelihood of the people.
Esguerra reportedly worked with various prestigious non-government organizations advocating for the preservation and protection of the environment and that she was able to visit various urban and rural communities around the country to inform and educate children on the importance of having a good state of the environment and how to preserve and protect the same for the benefit of upcoming generations.
For her part, Vice Governor Maria Jocelyn Valera-Bernos wished Esguerra the best of luck in her future endeavors, especially her upcoming participation to the Search for Miss International next year, saying that her win in the Bb. Pilipinas International 2024 gave honor and pride to the Abrenians and brought hope for the province to have a better image after the negative perceptions created by some peace and order issues in the past.
The vice governor emphasized that the provincial government remains bullish on the growth of the local tourism industry because of the projected increase in tourist arrivals in the coming months with the latest twist as a result of Abra’s hosting various regional activities in relation to the celebration of the 37th Cordillera month and Esguerra’s feat in the beauty pageant competition.
Esguerra will continue to carry the name of Abra even if she is now under the management of an agency that is tasked to manage her career in the national and international scenes in the coming years. By Dexter A. See
