SAL JUAN, Abra – alert police operatives of the San Juan Municipal Police Station were able to recover a 6mm M-203 ammunition that was believed to have been left by ten heavily armed men suspected to be members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) that took a rest in the forested area of sitio Slimosgan, barangay Abualan here around 5 pm Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, said the ammunition was recovered by the police operatives around 11 am Sunday after concerned residents informed them of the abandoned ammunition in the area which was described to them to be five kilometers north of the aforesaid place.
The recovered ammunition was immediately brought to the Abra Provincial Police Office for proper disposition.
Bartolome ordered the conduct of reconnaissance operations in the area in order to track down the whereabouts of the 10 heavily armed men that left the ammunition in the place.
