TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Barangay Agbannawag joyfully celebrated its Panaggapas Festival from May 27 to 28, with the theme “Rambakan ti Apit nga Adu, Paraguayan Bendisyon ti Apo”, which highlights the blessings of a bountiful harvest.
During the opening program, Punong Barangay Raymundo Alwing warmly welcomed all participants and guests. In his message, he encouraged community members to continue fostering strong relationships and to work towards more fruitful agricultural yields.
Representing Mayor Darwin Estrañero, City Information Officer Aurora Amilig emphasized that the festival celebrates the community’s rich agricultural heritage.
She pointed out that the bountiful harvests are a source of pride and prosperity for Agbannawag, and encouraged farmers to stay updated with modern farming technologies to increase productivity.
Amilig also acknowledged the challenges farmers face, particularly in relation to climate change.
She urged them to be resilient and smart in their farming practices in order to adapt to the changing environment.
The festival featured various activities, including a singing contest, dance performances, and a cultural dance competition, which showcased the talents and creativity of the community.
Traditional indigenous games also brought excitement and camaraderie among participants of all ages.
