City officials requested the Department of Public Works and Highways–Baguio City District Engineering Office (DPWH-BCDEO) and the City Engineering Office (CEO) to submit their respective accomplishment reports within thirty days from receipt of the resolution on the ongoing installation of tactile pavements along major sidewalks around the city.
Under Resolution No. 146, series of 2022, city legislators support the recommendation of the Committee on Public Works to request the DPWH-BCDEO to submit within 30 days their respective accomplishment reports on the installation of tactile pavements in the different sidewalks around the city.
Earlier, the council considered a proposed resolution urging the CEO and the contractor of the tactile paving project to introduce engineering interventions that will lessen or remove the hazards of the alleged slippery tactile that had been used in the implementation of the multi-million tactile project along major roads around the city.
Last year, the council invited a number of resource persons composed of government technical personnel from various national and local government agencies to shed light on the installation of the tactile pavements along major sidewalks around the city, and whether or not this is a priority project considering the heavy impact inflicted by the ongoing Coronavirus Disease (COVID) 2019 pandemic to the economy.
The council will take the appropriate action on the accomplishment reports that will be submitted by the DPWH-BCDEO and the CEO on the status of these projects to ensure that these are implemented pursuant to international standards as earlier claimed by concerned representatives of the said agencies and the city government.
