LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 39-year old security guard of the Benguet Agri Pinoy Trading Center is now in hot water after he indiscriminately fired his service firearm within the vicinity of the facility late Saturday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the suspect as Efren Adawan, 39, a security guard of the Benguet Agri Pinoy Trading Center and a native of Ilocos Sur.
Initial police investigation showed that William Damogo and Rex Pagulayan, two construction workers of the facility, were working on some newly concreted portions of the trading post when Adawan reportedly approached them and suddenly stepped on the newly concreted portions of the pavement.
The duo tried to revent him from doing more damage to the newly concreted pavement but he repeated the same and then walked away from the site carrying his guage 12 shotgun.
After a few minutes, the two construction workers suddenly heard a gunshot emanating from the area where the security guard went prompting them to report the matter to the police.
Responding police operatives immediately arrested the security guard and confiscated his service firearm for the conduct of ballistic test among others.
The security guard is temporarily detained at t6he La Trinidad municipal jail awaiting the filing of charges of indiscriminate firing and alarm and scandal filed against him.
