TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The 2nd Air Reserve Center of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) led by Commanding Officer Col. Maribelle B. Manangbao, PAF (MNSA) were at the City Hall recently to hold their Advocacy Campaign into the Reserve Force where they oriented interested employees of the city government on the steps to becoming a reservist.
The Reserve Force offers reservists a fantastic opportunity to serve their country while pursuing a career in the civilian sector.
Col. Manangbao said that the Reserve Force is an essential ally of the Philippine Armed Forces, called upon at times of national emergency or crisis to lend a hand with response and recovery activities.
Reservists are eligible for benefits like dental and medical care, burial assistance, and the privilege of donning the uniform of the Armed Forces in addition to the opportunity to serve the country.
Anyone from any background who is willing to serve and meets the criteria listed below is eligible to join the Reserve Force.
“Ang pagiging reservist hindi siya namimili ng gender, ethnicity, educational attainment. Ang importante dito ay service and commitment at gusto mo pong mag-serve,” Manangbao said.
The general qualifications are: Filipino citizen; 21-64 yrs. old; physically fit; educational attainment – as required and an AFP Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) shall be required for all applicants for commission except for elected government officials appointed government officials; holders of government licenses; Master in National Security Administration (MNSA) graduates and Armed Forces of the Philippines Affiliated Reserve Unit (AFPARU) personnel.
Applicants who are not graduates of the basic Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program are required to undergo the Basic Citizen Military Training (BCMT).
One can also be commissioned into the Reserve Force if s/he falls under the following categories: Group I: Degree holders who are Advance ROTC graduates; Group II: NCOs/POs of the of regular force with outstanding records of service and technical experience; Group III: Degree holders requiring four (4) or more years of study in the courses of interest to the AFP and who are graduates of the basic ROTC/BCMT and Group IV: Graduates of the Master in National Security Administration.
