BONTOC, Mountain Province – Mountain Province launched the future establishment of a Community Cultural Center in each of the barangays of the province during the Monday Program of the provincial government at the Provincial Plaza on April 28, 2025.
The launching was held in celebration of the National Literature Month (Buwan ng Pampanitikang Pambansa) this month of April, in compliance with Presidential Proclamation No. 968, s. of 2015. This year’s National Literature Month is focused on the theme, “Sikad Panitikan: Kultura at Panitikan ng Kaunlaran.”
In relation to the province-wide establishment of Community Cultural Center, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Roger U. Sacyaten announced that there will also be an upcoming contest for the activation, promotion and most functional community cultural centers all over the province. This contest will be held through the collaborative efforts of the provincial government through its Provincial Library and Culture and the Arts Unit, the Department of Education-Indigenous People Education Office, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
Meanwhile, in support to local literature and cultural preservation, Sacyaten also announced that the Provincial Library is accepting donations of books related to the culture of Mountain Province. The donated materials will play a vital role in addressing the lack of local references and culturally-relevant resources in the library’s collection and in providing students, researchers, and the general public with access to valuable information.
