LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – It’s all systems go for the various activities lined up by the organizers for the celebration of the 119th founding anniversary of Benguet wherein the highlights of the festivities will be the main program that will be conducted at the Wangal Sports Complex on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
Gov. Melchor D. Diclas said that the provincial government invited Brig. Gen. Israel Ephraim Dickson, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, to serve as the guest of honor and honor during the program considering that the earlier national personalities that were previously invited to grace the occasion are not available during the said date.
The theme of this year’s celebration is Health, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood, Tourism, Human Resource, Infrastructure, Economy and Resilience (HEALTHIER) Benguet which outlines the major thrusts of the present administration on how to work on the growth and development of the province in the next 3 years.
Prior to the conduct of the main program, various delegations from the 13 municipalities, concerned government agencies, civic organizations, police, military and other concerned stakeholders will participate in a civic-military parade from the Provincial Capitol grounds up to the Wangal Sports Complex during the province’s birthday.
The public will also have a chance to witness the different performances from the participating municipal delegations which will be followed by community dancing in the different booths that were established for the municipalities to host their visitors during the festivities considering that all roads will lead to the Wangal Sports Complex on the aforesaid date.
Some 22 pigs will be butchered by the provincial government and the different participating municipal delegations on the said date wherein the meat will be served to the visiting public through the so-called ‘watwat’ system while people will be enjoying the community dancing offered by the different delegations.
Representatives from the 13 municipalities will be tasked to participate in the pig catching activity wherein the pig that they are able to catch inside a make shift pen will be the one that will be butchered in the municipal booth aside from the pigs that will be donated for such purpose.
The much awaited agri-tourism fair, which is part of the major events of the Adivay Festival and the province’s 119th founding anniversary, will kick off on Monday, November 18, 2019 to provide an added attraction for people flocking to the Wangal Sports Complex to witness the new offerings of this year’s month-long celebration.
Each of the municipalities will display their major agricultural products, tourist spots among other attractions in their municipalities in the booths that will be set up for the said purpose to entice both residents and visitors to make it a point to visit the agri-tourism fair area and purchase their desired products.
