Four major political parties allied to support presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and his running-mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, turning the BBM-Sara UniTeam into the most formidable tandem in next year’s polls.
The BBM-SARA Uniteam led the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), LAKAS-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay.
In his speech, Marcos stressed that the merging forces of the most significant political parties signify unity that would heal and bring peace to a country that murky politics have long polarized.
“We have come together on the basis of unity. And it is this unifying force that I believe will bring the stability back first to the political arena, and secondly, to the country,” he said, assuring that the interest of the whole country was the driving force behind the alliance.
Duterte, on the other hand, thanked the political parties who came together to support the BBM-Sara UniTeam and asked them to “invite more parties to join the alliance.”
Present during the MOA signing was Davao Occidental Gov. Claude Bautista, HNP president; South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., PFP president; House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez, Lakas-CMD president; and former senator Jinggoy Estrada, PMP president.
The said political parties supported and snagged the presidency for three of the country’s former chief executives: Fidel Ramos, (Lakas), Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Lakas), and Joseph Estrada (PMP).
Lakas-CMD, which passed a resolution adopting Marcos as their presidential candidate, expressed confidence that the alliance of the four major political parties would signal other parties to join and support the BBM-Sara UniTeam.
The BBM-SARA Uniteam has consistently led in recent survey results ahead of the other contenders for the two top posts.
