Bontoc – The Episcopal Diocese of Northern Philippines (EDNP) of the Philippine Episcopal Church (ECP) unveils its 50th founding anniversary commemoration with a mass and unfolding of the golden jubilee logo at the Cathedral of All Saints on May 14, 2021.
In his homily, EDNP Diocesan Bishop and ECP) Prime Bishop elect Brent Harry W. Alawas shared that despite some bad moments faced in the past, the diocese was able to survive with significant accomplishments.
The following day, May 15, 2021, a motorcade was participated by Anglican clergy and lay headed by Bishop Alawas. It started at the All Saints Elementary School ground via Holy Cross Church in Tocucan, Bontoc; St. Mary the Virgin, Sagada; St. Benedict Church in Kin-iway, Besao, Nakawang junction, Catengan, Besao; Tadian’s St. Michael and Archangels; Mount Data Elementary School, Mount Data, Bauko via Abatan-Mabaay road then back to the Cathedral of All Saints via Maba-ay-Busa-Pingad, Sabangan.
At areas and in churches where the convoy had stop-over, Bishop Alawas turned over the jubilee logos and materials related to jubilee celebration to rural deans and vestry members.
Among the activities until the jubilee celebration on January 20, 2022 include the following: bible reading and studies, tree planting, joint clericus with the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Luzon (EDNL) and Episcopal Diocese of Santiago (EDS), photo exhibits, and medical mission.
EDS and EDNL were then under the jurisdiction of EDNP. These dioceses were created due to increase of churches.
