LUNA, Apayao – The provincial government, through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), in collaboration with Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) celebrated the National Children’s Month in Conner emphasizing protection of children against violence.
The celebration, attended by the child development workers with their contestants, parents, MSWDO and PSWDO personnel, and partner agencies, was done on November 20, 2024 at Paul A. Delwasen Memorial Gymnasium.
During said activity the talents of the children were showcased through their performances – song rendition, modern dance, poetry and drawing and story-telling. After the performances, the contestants received tumblers, bags, pencil cases, and toys to recognize their talents as gifts from the provincial government.
PSWDO Department Head Jocelyn Loyon reminded the personnel who joined about the basic rights of children, relating how important it is for the kids to be provided enough love and support.
“Kangrunaan nga karbengan ti ubing nga maiyanak ken maikkan ti nagan, ikkan ti pamilya nga magdungdunngo ken mangtartaripato. Let us give our fullest love to them. Agyan iti naulimek nga komunidad, maad-daan iti na an anay nga suporta, maikkan ti nasustansiya nga makan, magun-od ti nasayaat nga edukasyon, ikkan ti gundaway nga agay-ayam,” explains Loyon.
Meantime, Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua, in his state of the children’s address, underscored investing in children’s future as such ensures “that our children will have access to education” and also “receive the support they need to succeed,” adding that he and his officials will continue to expand access to quality education for the children of Conner in partnership with the Department of Education.
Bayaua also mentioned that the Conner municipal government is working tirelessly to ensure that children’s rights are respected and protected and that it remains committed to the health of the mothers and their children. By Loremia Pareja
