LUNA, Apayao  – Gov. Elias C. Bulut, Jr. underscored that provincial officials will only interfere in the brewing conflict in the State-run Apayao State College (ASC) when necessary to do so because he is simply closely monitoring the supposed internal intramurals in the province’s lone higher education institution.

The governor claimed that he will be constrained to call for a dialogue among the feuding factions in the school if they will not be able to internally settle their conflicts which are caused by questions on the competence of school officials to effectively and efficiently perform their duties and responsibilities that is supposed to sustain the gains of the previous administration instead of making the institution go back to the drawing board.

“We are just watching in the sidelines. It is incumbent upon the feuding factions of the school to internally settle their differences and not to await outside forces to interfere because the failure of school officials to get their acts together creates a bad impression on their ability to lead and iron out rifts within their midst,” Bulut stressed.

Earlier, concerned sectors in the province called on provincial and municipal officials to dip their fingers in the brewing conflict among feuding factions in ASC to prevent the situation from going out of control which could ruin the gains of the higher education institution that were passed on to the present leadership.

The sources claimed that the inability of the present school officials to iron out such internal rifts casts doubt on their ability to solve the problems that could go out of control especially that most of the officials that were given especial assignments resigned from their designations because of alleged lack of trust and confidence to their leaders.

Bulut explained that one of the problems of the school officials is their being alleged partisan wherein those from the other campus dislike those in the other campus and vice versa that is why it is difficult to unite the officers of the two campuses although it could be achieved if their leader will be strong enough in reconciling people instead of causing divisiveness among them.

According to him, it is still best for school officials to take the cudgels of reconciling feuding factions in the school because it will speak well on their ability to lead but if the conflicts will still worsen in the coming months, then it will be high time for us to dip our fingers and show to them the brand of leadership that officials have been known for over the past several decades.

Bulut asserted the inability of ASC officials to get their acts together will definitely affect the good learning environment that was established and the close working relationship among concerned sectors in the institution that is why it is high time for the concerned officials to wake up and realize the importance having a united work force in an educational institution wherein school officials have to set the examples that their students should emulate when they become professionals.

Sources disclosed that instead of the supposed increase in enrolment, students who were dismayed on the present leadership of ASC eventually transferred to other schools outside the province for better quality of education that could be provided them.
