PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte – As part of its commitment to ensure immediate response to emergencies, the Apayao provincial government trained some 45 employees on Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid facilitated by Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO).
Participated in by drivers and operators, Apayao Rescue Team, and Amma Jadsac District Hospital (AJDH) personnel, the said training course which started last September 4 in Alta Vista Ilocandia Resort in Pagudpud, aims to teach employees how to properly manage critical medical emergencies, such as cardiac arrest and obstructed airways.
Throughout the training, participants are expected to acquire the desired knowledge, attitude and basic skills necessary in an emergency or disaster response operation to help minimize serious consequences of respiratory and cardiac emergencies until more advanced medical help arrives.
The drivers of all departments/units of the provincial government are the frontrunners in responding to emergencies/disasters in the community.
They are continuously being called whenever transport services are needed, and who are constantly on the road and thus, they are usually the first responders to vehicular accidents or any emergencies along their way. By PIO Apayao
