LUNA, Apayao – The Environmental Development Program of the Provincial Government of Apayao under the ENRD has allocated ₱500,000.00 to the Provincial Nursery this year in a bid to produce more quality seedlings for distribution.
The production of seedling will help the government save money at the same time be able to master how to produce varieties of trees to be planted in the province.
The amount shall be spent for indigenous plant species like Narek, Apitong, White Lauan, Hesselt Panau, White Nato and many others.
The seedling production can be visited at the Provincial Nursery. located at Payanan, Luna, Apayao.
This program started in the year 2018, and thousands of seedlings have already been distributed to different agencies and to the yApayaos.
Quarterly monitoring is needed to ensure that the plants grow well and if not, additional seedling replacement shall be done.
Forester Breiden P. Dela Cruz said “Habang umad adu ti agrequest ti seedlings, mas ganado kami nga agproduce. Sapay kuma ta adu pay nga yApayaos ti maencourage nga agmula ti kaykayo tapno mapaadu ti green spaces ti ili tayo nga Apayao ta maicconect iti newly inscribed nga BryA (Apayao Biosphere Reserve)’’.
This initiative aims to supply vigorous and healthy seedlings to interested yApayaos who are planting and to other offices when conducting tree planting activities and serves as an effective tool to Climate Change Adaptation.
Aside from this, PGO ENRD said they have consistently engaged in Environmental Protection activities such as Tree planting, Clean Up Drives, Philippine Eagle Monitoring, Yearly Environmental Summit and so on. By Loremia Pareja
