LUNA, Apayao – The provincial government gathered representatives from various farmers’ organizations in the province on Wednesday, August 09, 2023 at the ECBJR Multipurpose Building and Evacuation Center for this year’s farmers forum organized by the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS).
The activity aimed to bolster agricultural productivity and profitability, which, according to Vice-Governor Remy N. Albano who led the activity, remains a challenge for Apayao.
Albano however believes that “with our collective efforts, taking into account sustainable, competitive, and resilient technologies and practices we will be able to achieve these plans.”
The forum’s central subject revolves on “Improving agriculture, improving lives,” seeking farmers’ empowerment as contributors to the attainment of the administration’s agenda on poverty reduction and economic development, in line with the agriculture department’s vision on food security and resiliency.
Albano also said that agriculture now rests at the top of the priorities of the national government, down to the local government units. “Hence, we need you to be one with us, collaborate with us, and be receptive of the programs and innovations relative to agriculture.”
During the activity, the POAS presented its various banner programs to springboard discussions and sectoral workshops whose outputs were noted. All issues and concerns raised by the participants, according to Supervising Agriculturist Bernardo Bareng, will be considered in the crafting of agricultural development plans in the province.
