LUNA, Apayao – It was a Monday morning well spent for the provincial government officials, employees and 250 other participants who came together to join the fun run and Zumba dance workout exercise on August 5, at the Apayao Eco Tourism and Sports Complex (AETSC), in San Gregorio, Luna.
The fitness activities are part of the undertaking lined up to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the corporate existence of the PGA.
According to one of the province’s pioneer employees, Secretary of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan James Gullayan, in 29 years of observance of the corporate existence day, this is the first time that the celebration kicked off with a fun run and Zumba dance workout.
“It is a nice change. Dati we celebrate it with just a simple recollection program, now we have lots of activities,” said Gullayan adding that the physical activities are “a perfect way to jumpstart a week.”
This year’s celebration is themed “Revisiting the past at 29: Mastering Resilience and Excellence in Good Governance,” a trip down to memory lane re-exploring the notable strides taken by the province’s dedicated leaders in the provincial government’s nearly three decades of existence.
Last year’s commemoration was held at the Old Capitol Site at the Iyapan Heights in Poblacion, Kabugao where several assistance packages were distributed to various sectors of the community.
It can be noted that after Apayao’s separation from Kalinga, by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 7878 signed on February 14, 1995, the PGA was officially established as a legal entity on August 5 of the same year, formally opening its doors for a distinctive brand of public service for the yApayaos.
