LUNA, Apayao – The provincial government officially commenced the celebration of Oral Health Month on February 1, with activities, raising awareness on the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and combatting dental problems which affect many Filipinos.
With an impressive turnout of over 200 participants, the beginning of the month-long series of events promoting dental well-being within the province kicked off with a fun run, a fun bike, and a Zumba session, engaging participants in promoting oral health awareness.
Aligned with the Department of Health’s (DOH) principal campaign, the theme for this year is “Ngipin mo ay alagaan, tulad ng inang kalikasan,” in harmony with the DOH’s main initiative, “Let’s DOH-8! Vision 70-20 Iwas Bungal.”
The Vision 70-20 campaign emphasizes the goal of maintaining a minimum of 20 natural, functional, and healthy teeth by the age of 70. This objective aims to ensure a high quality of life for every Filipino, deserving of good oral health.
Throughout the month, the Provincial Health Office is slated to conduct a series of information and education campaigns, dental check-ups, and community outreach programs that seek to highlight the importance of maintaining good oral health as an integral component of overall well-being.
The organizers also distributed complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste to all participants. By JCM
