LUNA, Apayao – Over 207 residents in San Isidro Sur, Luna Apayao received an array of medical services during the launching of the PuroKalusugan program, at the EKB gymnasium on October 18, 2024.
Through the Cordillera office of the Department of Health (DOH)-Center for Health Development and the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO), along with Provincial Health Office (PHO), medical services were provided to the people. Of the 207, 81 had medical consultations, 44 availed dental services, 79 for vision screening, while 11 patients were referred for further evaluation and surgery. Some 81 were also given free medicine. Some of the beneficiaries availed more than one of the services.
The PHO said one of the highlight components of the program was its Social Behavioral Change Communication that aimed to enhance health standards and promote well-being among residents.
The PuroKalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas program prioritizes and ensures that essential health services will reach all corners of the province, especially those living in remote and underprivileged areas. This is aligned with Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.’s health care plans towards inclusive and high quality health services.
Assistant Regional Director, DOH Cordillera Janice Bugtong, during the launch, emphasized the importance of cooperation in delivering healthcare.
“Babaen iti panagtitinulong iti DOH and local government unit, iyasideg mi ti serbisyo kadagiti balbalay ken purok ditoy probinsya tayo nga Apayao. Ket ti kasta adu dagiti,” she stated, underscoring the program’s outreach and accessibility.
As PuroKalusugan continues to reach out it underscores that every individual deserves access to quality healthcare regardless their circumstances – as the program’s tagline goes “Sa bagong Pilipinas, bawat buhay ay mahalaga”. By Joyce Arian Soria
