LUNA, Apayao – To enhance the efficiency of Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMC) within the province, the Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC) organized a workshop on Provincial Project Monitoring Reports and Basic Engineering Courses from August 22 to 24, 2023.
The three-day workshop saw the participation of staff from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, personnel from the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), members of the PPMC, representatives from local government units (LGUs), and the workforce from the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The workshop featured informative lectures devised by the PPDO, covering topics such as: Common Monitoring Tools, Materials and Scope of Work for Vertical and Horizontal Structures, Common Findings and Recommendations for Horizontal and Vertical Structures, An Overview of the Subaybayan Initiative, Discussion of the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System, and Discussion of the Provincial Project Monitoring Form
PPDO’s Engr. James T. Mathis, expressed hope that the participants gained valuable insights from the resource speakers to better fulfill the mandates of the PPMCs at both the provincial and municipal levels.
Participants welcomed the intervention workshop and expressed their desire for more capacity-building activities to empower the LPMC in the municipalities.
PPMC was established to foster a culture of monitoring and evaluation in government operations. It serves as a conduit for devolving project implementation, facilitating solutions to issues, and overseeing monitoring and evaluation at the provincial level, with active involvement from various agencies, LGUs, and non-government organizations.
In line with this mission, the PPMC has developed a Provincial Project Monitoring Tool to be used during periodic monitoring and evaluation by the PPDO Monitoring & Evaluation Section.
Furthermore, the PPMC has also adopted a structured approach to conducting quarterly on-site monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects within the province’s jurisdiction. By Jomela C. Dela Torre
