LUNA, Apayao – As part of their learning and sharing session in the continuation of the Provincial Management and Development Conference (PMDC) on August 8, each Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO’s) in Apayao presented their best practices on implementing social welfare programs.
The conference gathered together all social workers in the province working in local governments to get updates, as well as collaborate in providing better and more effective social welfare services to the public.
Marie Claire M. Palattao, Supervising Administrative Officer (SAO) from the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO), and Karen Gayle P. Arrid, Administrative Officer from Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO), served as the panelists during the presentation of Best Practices on Implementing Social Welfare Programs.
The presentations were lauded and commended, but they asked the MSWDOs to take a more active and direct role in documenting their activities or implemented social welfare programs for more comprehensive information.
Additionally, they mentioned more support should be given to the implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan or Gulayan sa Barangay program as it aims to promote production of foods that are rich in protein, carbohydrates, vitamin A and iron as major input to school feeding. This will also lessen the number of malnourished children and support the greening of the environment.
The conference ended with the awarding of tokens and certificates to the panelists and to the MSWDOs showing their hard work and dedication as social workers. By Michelle Acantilado
