LUNA, Apayao – Members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) convened today, September 25 in Clubhouse, AETSC, Luna for the third quarter joint council meeting, reporting their accomplishments and discussing important issues needing to be addressed.
Previously, Apayao was declared the safest province in the Cordillera with its low crime rate and low reports on violence and other public disturbances.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmar Pascua, presiding at the meeting, mentioned the necessity to enhance means and ways to fully implement their Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan as currently, only about 44% have been implemented.
Pascua also emphasized the need to address the rising number of rape cases and the province’s overarching goal of becoming drug-free.
In his talk, Pascua expressed gratitude to the attendees for their partnership in maintaining peace and combating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province.
During the meeting, the Philippine National Police discussed the province’s anti-criminality situation, while the Philippine Army presented the anti-insurgency situation. The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Apayao provided insights into the First Semester POPS Accomplishment Report and offered updates on Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
Additionally, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency provided an overview of the anti-drug abuse situation, and various concerned agencies raised issues related to public safety. By JCM
