LUNA, Apayao – A one-million peso cash reward was given to an informant who played a significant role in the neutralization of a communist terrorist group (CTG) in Flora, Apayao last month.
The bravery of the said citizen resulted in the killing of a leader of a CTG operating in the area and the recovery of firearms used by the terrorist group.
DND Secretary Gibo Teodoro, Apayao Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr, Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba, NOLCOM Lt Gen Fernyl Buca, personally handed over the cash reward to said informant on November 22, during the Balik-loob program of provincial government at the BGVJr. Memorial Gymnasium.
The grant is pursuant to the Executive Order No.22, signed by Gov. Bulut Jr., which entitles any rebel from the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army who will courageously surrender to the provincial government and totally denounce his communist affiliation.
Bulut-Begtang, in a statement said, that the endeavor shows the sincerity of the provincial government towards attaining peace, security, progress and development across the province.
Gov. Bulut likewise, added that he will do everything to ensure the attainment of the province’s plans and projects, including the eradication and disturbances caused by the insurgency.
Secretary Gibo Teodoro, meantime, vowed immediate response to any necessity of the province in matters relating to achieving peace and security. By PIO Apayao
