LUNA, Apayao – The province is now all set to welcome yet another episode of its annual observance of the Philippine Civil Service in its 123rd anniversary this coming September 2023.
This celebration is one of the biggest events of the year in the province packed with sports, musical and dance performances as well as other competitions.
As is the custom, the provincial government will again spearhead the month-long festivities, honoring the efforts and sacrifices of government workers in the province, an initiative that is unique of the province since over a decade ago.
Under the overarching theme of the Philippine civil service anniversary (PCSA) for the next decade, “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes,” and with this year’s subtheme, “Dynamism,” the focus will be on innovation, digital transformation, excellence, and the continuous improvement of public service.
Among the highlights will be a parade of clustered government agencies, a challenging triathlon, badminton and chess tournaments, spirited cheer dance competitions, harmonious chorale performances, energetic Zumba sessions, and graceful dance sport exhibitions. Additionally, there will be contests such as “Funniest Employee,” as well as competitive sports including volleyball for men and women, basketball for both genders, and table tennis.
One of the most anticipated events is the nationwide online Zumba session scheduled for September 1st, where all government workers across the country are expected to participate. This mass Zumba session is seen not only as a celebration of health and well-being but also as a symbol of unity among public servants striving toward a common goal.
Likewise, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) kicked off the celebration with a virtual launch last August 7, where various government agencies in the country presented their initiatives aimed at promoting dynamism within the bureaucracy, aligning with the CSC’s vision for a more agile and future-ready public sector.
CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles expressed his fervor, saying, “Bilang pagsuporta sa PCSA, celebration, inaasahang masisilayan ang libo-libong kawani ng gobyerno na sama-samang makikibahagi sa Online Zumba.” He emphasized that beyond promoting health and well-being, this event serves as a demonstration of unity in public service towards a common purpose.
This month-long celebration in the province not only underscores the significance of the PCSA but also highlights the province’s goal of nurturing a dynamic and innovative public sector for the future. As September approaches, all eyes are on Apayao as it prepares to host an extraordinary celebration that will again honor and underscore genuine service, unity, and excellence. By JCM
