LUNA, Apayao – The Schools Division Office (SDO) Apayao sets the schedule of the highly-anticipated provincial athletic meet on January 23 to 25, 2025.
The upcoming sports meet is expected to draw approximately 3000 participants, including student-athletes, coaches, teachers, and delegates, according to an official of the SDO Apayao.
Said sporting event will take place primarily at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex (AETSC) in Luna, while the towns of Pudtol, Santa Marcela, and Flora will host several sports events and provide billeting quarters for the athletes and delegates.
The SDO Apayao issued the Division Memorandum No. 18 s. 2025 on January 9, 2025, directing all athletes, coaches, co-coaches, and chaperones to submit all required documents to the School Government and Operations Division (SGOD) for initial assessment of the participants. Likewise, all delegations (seven municipalities) are instructed to create their own working committees and house rules for the smooth coordination and organization.
The roster of events include archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, boxing, chess, football, futsal, gymnastics, sepak takraw, swimming, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, lawn tennis, volleyball, wrestling, wushu, pencak silat, and dance sports.
Last year’s overall champion, the Municipality of Pudtol, amassing an impressive haul of 137 gold, 122 silver, and 91 bronze medals, said they are ready to defend their title in the upcoming three-day sports stint. On the other hand, Luna and Flora, who placed second and third respectively, are also expected to bring strong contingents to the competition to challenge the last year’s champion.
Meanwhile, the provincial government are giving their all-out support to the student-athletes and all other participants in the Provincial Athletic Meet. By Jess Christley Marquez
