LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PDAC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), Provincial School Board, Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC), Provincial Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (PCAT-VAW), Provincial Mining & Regulatory Board and Kapehan sa Kapitolyo held a joint meeting on December 18, 2024, focused on reviewing the accomplishments of the past quarter and strategizing for the coming year.
Chaired by Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr., alongside with Apayao Lone District Representative Congressman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, the meeting was convened at the ECBJr. Multi- Purpose Building and Evacuation Center (Aliwa Gym), Capitol Compound, San Isidro Sur Luna, Apayao, bringing together representatives from the national line agencies (NLAs), local government units (LGUs), members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan, provincial heads of various offices.
During the said meeting, the Apayao Police Provincial Office, 17th Infantry Battalion, 98th Infantry Battalion and Bureau of Fire Protection were recognized.
Said offices received a certificate of recognition from the PPOC and PADAC for their exceptional and steadfast contributions to fostering and upholding peace and order in the Province of Apayao.
The safety and well-being of all yApayaos have been substantially protected by their aggressive anti-criminality and anti-drug impact initiatives in the province, as well as their time and crucial support during disaster response operations.
In an effort to encourage peace and reintegration in the province, a former rebel was given a check worth PhP35, 431.22 through the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, during the said meeting.
In the meeting, to guarantee the continuation of operations regarding the insurgent situation, the 98th IB and the 17th IB said they continue to campaign for peace and safety. Additionally, the Apayao office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) discussed the Peace and Order and Public Safety plan.
In the battle against abuse and violence, the PCPC and PCAT-VAWC reported that they consistently empower their members and stakeholders to strengthen the responsiveness and essential service for women’s and children’s protection.
During the meeting, Governor Bulut applauded the SGLS 2024 awardees, namely Conner, Flora, Luna, Pudtol, Santa Marcela and also the province.
“We are proud to receive this award, it validates the hard work and dedication of our province. This recognition will fuel our commitment to even greater improvements in governance and service delivery,” said Governor Bulut.
“Yung trainings and programs na naibibigay natin sa mga tao natin ay nagbunga at masaya ang buong Apayao for that. We thank each and every one, hindi lang sa participation ng LGUs but also sa mga programs ng mga NLAs that really help the development of our province,” he added.
Governor Bulut also expressed his gratitude to the DILG-Apayao for always being there to guide them in achieving the award. “Hindi namin nakuha itong award kung wala sila, they are putting us in the right direction, thank you, and congratulations to all,” he continued.
Additionally, the Cordillera office of the Department of Education (DepEd) recognized the provincial government and the Office of the Congressman for their unwavering support to the DepEd-Apayao. Schools District Supervisor Irene Angway awarded a plaque of appreciation to Governor Bulut and Congresswoman Bulut-Bagtang. By Krizza Joy Castillo
