LUNA, Apayao – The provincial government formally received the “Listahanan 3: Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan” data sets from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-FO CAR) in a turnover ceremony held on June 21, 2024, at the Star Jewel Lodge in San Isidro, Luna, Apayao.
The event was attended by various Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDOs) and representatives from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
Listahanan is an information management system designed to identify the location and condition of poor households within the province. This system aims to establish an objective targeting mechanism for social protection programs and services, benefiting both the government and civil society.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that two out of the seven municipalities in Apayao are among the top ten municipalities in CAR with significant numbers of households facing economic challenges. Moreover, data indicates that one in every four households in Apayao falls under the classification of low-income households.
Verliemae S. Baldovino accepted the Listahanan database results and statistics, which provide a comprehensive profile of the province’s poor households.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Baldovino expressed gratitude to the DSWD, particularly Marifil C. Jugal, OIC-Chief of the Policy and Plans Division of DSWD FO CAR, for their diligent efforts in compiling this valuable database. She also acknowledged the contributions of the PSWDO and the MSWDOs from various municipalities.
“With this data, ma-identify po namin yung most vulnerable sectors of our population and develop targeted interventions that address their specific needs,” Baldovino said. She emphasized that this will not only improve the effectiveness of social protection programs but also ensure that resources are allocated in the most efficient and impactful manner.
She likewise highlighted the governor’s commitment to governance, stating that the true essence of leadership lies in uplifting the lives of the yApayaos, especially those who are marginalized and disadvantaged.
The turnover ceremony also included discussions on other relevant issues and concerns, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to address poverty in Apayao. By Michelle Acantilado
