LUNA, Apayao – The State-run Apayao State College (ASC) accorded its former president, Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon, the fitting retirement honors to commemorate her 39 years of service in the academe.
In her message to the concerned stakeholders of the province’s higher education institution, Dacyon stated “It’s an honor to be accorded this send-off rites that officially culminates our almost 39 years of public service. Thank you for those messages and your testimonies. Having listened to your feedbacks, I can say that after all, it’s not how long we stayed together that matters but how fruitful those years have been that counts. True enough, everything has a beginning and an end and so with our story of our retirement.”
She expressed her gratitude to all those who were part of her journey to retirement, her parents Antonio and Martina Akien, her family, her siblings, their families and relatives, lawyers Pablito Sanidad, Sr. and Randy Kinaod, all her mentors, her critics and detractors, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) family headed by president Dr. Rexton Chakas, the unmatched governing board of MPSPC during her time, the ASC headed by its officer-in-charge regional director Dr. Demetrio Anduyan, Jr., Apayao Rep. Elias C. Bulut, Jr., Gov. Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, all the local officials of Apayao, heads of the national line agencies, and all the iYapayaos.
The former ASC president underscored that continuity is paramount in development efforts, and thus, during her time, she saw to it that good plans and programs were built upon the foundations forged by the founders of the institution and her predecessors.
Dacyon recognized the former Office of the President teams, both for MPSPC and ASC, for their tremendous and persistent support and whose integrity were high in protecting the image of the whole institutions.
According to her, because of the formidable teams, the journey towards a dignified service of the Office of the President in both institutions can speak for themselves.
Dacyon also made special mention to the late Rep. Elias K. Bulut, Sr., the founder of ASC and the father of Apayao, and the late Mountain Province Rep. Victor S. Dominguez, the founder of MPSPC where she thanked them for willfully sharing their wisdom that guided her through the years of her stay in both institutions.
She also recognized the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the institution’s oversight agencies, development partners, the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) and the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) family, her alma maters, the Lepanto National High School, Holy Rosary High School, Pangasinan State University (PSU), Baguio Central University (BCU) and the Benguet State University (BSU), her fellow teachers, fellow SUC presidents, all the people whom she had the opportunity to work with, the students, parents and the communities, her friends through thick and thin and to all those who, in any way, have held her and her family through the years.
She expressed her gratitude to God Almighty for the gift of life, continuing guidance and protection and for all his blessings as his blessings will be upon everyone as people continue with their next missions in life.
