KABUGAO, Apayao – For the second year in a row, the province of Apayao and its seven municipalities have been recognized for sound financial management, securing the 2024 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) award.
The province first earned the distinction in 2023 and has maintained the standard ever since.
Part of the Seal of Good Local Governance, the GFH award is given to local government units that meet strict financial criteria. These include receiving an Unqualified or Qualified Commission on Audit Opinion and following the Full Disclosure Policy, which requires the public posting of financial documents both online and in key locations.
Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. welcomed the recognition, calling it proof of Apayao’s commitment to transparency and responsible governance.
This recognition likewise underscores the province’s efforts in fiscal responsibility and a huge boost in its drive to set the bar for efficient and ethical governance. By Krizza Castillo
