LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Tourism Services Office (PTSO) officially opened the doors to this year’s Apayao Tourism Week celebration, running from September 17-20 at the Apayao Eco Tourism and Sports Complex (AETSC).
Provincial Tourism Officer Rebecca T. Mamba is inviting locals and visitors to come and experience the culture of the province through activities packaged into an immersive tour.
Among the key highlights of the event are the hands-on cultural workshops including crocheting and panag-rammat tutorials, wood carving sessions, basketry making, and painting workshops. Guests will also enjoy an exclusive room tour of the AETSC Hotel, cultural dances, musical presentations, and a mini trade fair that showcases yApayao craftsmanship.
Meantime, food lovers will be delighted by the Mangan Tada food fair, featuring native delicacies.
With the activities already underway, the PTSO extends an open invitation to all to come and experience the unique traditions and culture of Apayao.
According to Mamba, various educational institutions in the province have booked their own educational tours, giving students an opportunity to learn more about the province’s heritage.
High school students are set to explore the cottages on Wednesday, while college students will have their turn on Thursday.
“To put it simply, this is the Apayao cultural experience packaged in one very immersive tour,” said Mamba. “Kung gusto ng mga visitors natin ma-experience mag-crochet, gumawa ng basket, pwedeng-pwede nilang gawin iyan. Pwede rin silang makinig sa mga pointers ng ating invited guest artists na painter and wood carver,” she added.
Further, on Friday, September 20, the PTSO will stage the much-awaited fashion show, the “Armat yApayao: The Runway Parade,” showcasing collections of attires made by yApayao artists and dressmakers. By Jess Christley Marquez
