FLORA, Apayao – The Apayao Rescuelympics 2025 gathered the province’s top emergency responders for a test of endurance, skill, and teamwork at the Apayao River (Dacao Dam Section) on February 12 in Barangay Atok, this town.
Despite the drizzly weather, the event pushed through, proving that the yApayaos remain committed in disaster preparedness and resilience.
With the theme, “Apayao at 30: Rising and Uniting in Disaster Preparedness, Enhancing a Culture of Safety and Resilience,” the competition featured three events simulating real-life emergency scenarios: D’ Iapayaos’ Amazing Race of Barangay’s Finest, Sky Pilot Maneuvering Skills, and the Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (SRR) Challenge.
In the Amazing Race of Barangay’s Finest that tested speed, agility, and problem-solving in emergency situations, the Pudtol municipality claimed the championship, with Luna and Calanasan securing first and second runner up finish respectively.
Further, Flora claimed the first place in the Sky Pilot Maneuvering Skills which focused on aerial navigation of drones. Pudtol placed first runner up, followed by Calanasan as second runner up.
Luna topped the much-anticipated SRR Challenge by demonstrating efficiency in emergency response and victim recovery. Pudtol finished as first-runner up, and Calanasan took second runner up.
The Rescuelympics 2025 ended with a sense of camaraderie and triumph as participants celebrated the important lessons of teamwork, readiness, and perseverance. By Diocen Tolentino
