CALANASAN, Apayao – Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) initiative to bring health care services and awareness of the Universal Health Care (UHC) law through a health caravan devised under the provincial government’s Project BUTSY has reached Calanasan, Apayao on August 22, 2023.
Aiming to foster health awareness among the yApayaos, the PHO along with the Department of Health once again led a diverse team of professionals from various government agencies and health institutions, all dedicated to fully implementing UHC in the province in alignment with national government directives.
To ensure that both individuals and communities grasp the concept and advantages of UHC, an orientation program was conducted for key implementers, including municipal officials, academic representatives, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS). This was followed by complimentary dental and medical check-ups.
Program Focal Person Markrobin Daguio expressed his satisfaction with the success of the UHC Caravan in Calanasan, emphasizing its significance in the pursuit of equitable healthcare services. He noted that it sets a positive example for future initiatives, emphasizing community involvement, health promotion, and accessibility to healthcare services.
The PHO said the caravan will proceed to the capital town Kabugao in a schedule that is yet to be set. By Michelle O. Acantilado
