FLORA, Apayao – More than 1,000 campus journalists from the province gathered at Flora National High School (FNHS) from March 4 to 6, 2025, for the 2025 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) and Cliniquing of Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) qualifiers.
Part of the annual regular activities of the Department of Education, said three-day event, will test student journalists in news, editorial, sports, and feature writing, copyreading and headline writing, science and technology writing, photojournalism, editorial cartooning, and column writing in both English and Filipino.
Group competitions included radio and TV scriptwriting and broadcasting, collaborative desktop publishing, and online publishing at the elementary and secondary levels.
Judges will also assess school publications, review its content, layout, and design in both English and Filipino.
Meanwhile, RSPC qualifiers will receive cliniquing sessions, where they will refine their skills under the guidance of mentors before advancing to the regional level.
Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Irene S. Angway reminded young journalists of their responsibility in reporting. “Protect your right to write what is right,” she said, underscoring the role of journalism in upholding truth and integrity. By Krizza Joy Castillo
