LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao State College (ASC) clinched the first runner-up spot in the overall standings of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet 2024.
Following the province’s impressive performance in the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2024, the tertiary level continued the winning streak with another strong finish.
ASC garnered a total of 38 gold, 46 silver, and 52 bronze medals during the five-day regional sports event held here in Apayao from April 29 to May 3.
Compared to last year’s performance in Kalinga, where ASC secured only 10 gold medals, the college showcased a redemption arc on their home turf, finishing as the first runner-up behind the dominant Benguet State University, which amassed an impressive total of 379 medals, including 114 gold, 46 silver, and 45 bronze.
In the standings, Ifugao State University secured the third spot with 28 gold, 56 silver, and 44 bronze medals, followed by Abra State Institute of Science and Technology with 24 gold, 39 silver, and 74 bronze medals, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College with 20 gold, 49 silver, and 51 bronze medals, Kalinga State University with 14 gold, 26 silver, and 31 bronze medals, while the University of the Philippines – Baguio, in its debut, secured 5 bronze medals.
