LUNA, Apayao – Investing in the workforce as a major strategy for a modernized and progressive agricultural sector in the province was highlighted during the investment forum recently held at the EKB Sr. Auditorium, ASC Luna Campus, last August 23, which paved a way for promising partnerships.
This forum was initiated by the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. and in partnership with the Apayao State College (ASC) and Jun Yu Corporation, Taiwan.
Heads and representatives from different organizations, including ASC, provided an overview of their programs and services, followed by an open discussion where guests gave responses to questions.
During the forum Jackie Huang and Chris Lou of Jun Yu Corporation also spoke of their expertise and plans, indicating their dedication to supporting the agricultural development of the province, particularly in developing human resources, and thus, they expressed hope for future collaborations for the welfare of agriculture students and faculty members in the ASC Agriculture Department.
The two likewise presented internship and scholarship programs, with Huang saying, “Agriculture is our priority. Let’s focus on the future of agriculture in Apayao.”
The proposed partnership is through on-the-job training of students and support to faculty members pursuing master’s degrees in Taiwan, further enhancing their skills to bring back valuable knowledge to the Philippines that boosts agricultural practices.
ASC President Dr. John N. Cabansag was grateful of the opportunity and expressed his willingness to establish ties with Taiwan, considering it a major step in the college’s efforts to elevate Apayao State College into the global market.
Cabansag believes that this partnership will support the college’s internationalization efforts.
Following the forum, Governor Bulut Jr. expressed excitement in establishing connections with Jun Yu Corporation and hopes for more collaborations with adjacent Asian countries known for their efficient and innovative solutions in handling critical challenges in food production. By Loremia Pareja
