TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Shallyne Tallog finished third in the Junior Female Flyweight category during the 16th ASEAN Taekwondo Championships at Ayala Malls Bay in Parañaque City held recently.
The Taekwondo player is the second child of Mr Marshall Tallog from Lubuagan and Mrs Lorlyn Tallog from Cagayan and Isabela.
According to Mrs. Tallog, Shallyne began training when she was 8 years old and has participated in numerous local and international competitions even as a yellow belt.
Despite her age, the grade 11 Williamite student has won multiple medals, including silver and gold at her first two international Taekwondo Online Speed Kicking Championships competitions.
Tallog expressed her gratitude to her sponsors and supporters in a Facebook post, and was particularly grateful for her trainers Jeffry Ysmael and Kalee Duguiawe from the Kalinga Taekwondo Academy (KTA).
The three-day tournament served as preparation for the Cambodia Southeast Asian Games in May 2023. By Rio Bassong
