City officials recently congratulated and commended the hard work and dedication of the Barangay Health Workers’ Federation of the city and lauded its Asin and City Camp health districts for emerging as grand winners in the prestigious Program Awards for Best Health Promotion Practices at the Luzon leg of the Kampeon ng Kalusugan Health Promotions Summit.
In a resolution authored by councilors Rocky M. Aliping, Betty Lourdes F. Tabanda, John Rhey Mananeng and Maximo Edwin, Jr., local legislators stated that the award given to the aforesaid health districts recognized the exemplary efforts of barangay health workers for their sustainable, innovative and creative approaches to promoting the seven healthy habits which include key areas of public health such as proper diet and exercise, environmental health, immunization, substance abuse prevention, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and violence and injury prevention.
Earlier, representatives of the Baguio City Barangay Health Workers’ Federation composed of Melanie Gordo, Josephine Salundaguit, Juvilyn Cabanting, Beverly Sacyafen, Josephine Posas, Rubyn Puking, May Legaspi, Visitacion Ragalado, Florentina Andogan, and Alice Pacao actively participated in the Luzon leg of the Kampeon ng Kalusugan Health Promotion Summit held last August 13-16, 2024 at the Royce Hotel and Casino in Clarkfield, Angeles City, Pampanga.
The summit was aimed to honor the dedication and hard work of barangay health workers through two prestigious categories such as the Service Awards and the Program Awards for Best Health Promotion Practices.
Subsequently, the Asin and City Camp health districts representing the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) won the Program Awards for Best Health Promotion practices.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Barangay Health Workers’ Federation, the Asin and City Camp health districts and the concerned barangay health workers for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
