LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao Training Center (ATC), in partnership with the Technical Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), has commenced free training of the first batch of the Driving NC II course with fifteen (15) students hailing from various municipalities of Apayao.
The funding for this scholarship has been provided by Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang through TESDA’s Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) which offers participants free training, assessments, training support funds, and starter toolkits.
The STEP program is a means to give deserving beneficiaries access to free, high-quality technical education, and training opportunities.
The Driving NC II assessment evaluates the students’ competence in operating light vehicles. They are evaluated based on their knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, vehicle maintenance, and their ability to drive safely under various conditions. Practical tests include parking, turning, and defensive driving.
Apart from the Driving NC II course, the ATC also offers training programs in Electrical Installation Management (EIM) NC II, Dressmaking NC II, and Trainers Methodology Level I.
In addition, the ATC and TESDA are currently in the process of registering two new courses: the second batch of Driving NC II and Bread and Pastry NC II. These courses, provided by TESDA and ATC, aim to equip yApayaos with the necessary skills for employment.
Recognizing the challenges in securing jobs today, the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) demonstrates its support, concern, and commitment to helping yApayaos find employment.
Those interested in enrolling in these courses may visit the ATC, located in the Provincial Government Compound in San Isidro Sur Luna, Apayao. By Krizza Joy Castillo
